What a Typical Day Looks Like for a Student Pilot in Malta

Flight training goes beyond simply accumulating flying hours as it entails developing a disciplined structure, cognitive awareness and organisational consistency. Each day at TNC Aviation in Malta is structured so that students are exposed to behaviours and experience that simulate professional aviation activities earlier on in their training.

Typically, the training day starts with pre-flight briefings in which students review weather, NOTAMs, flight plans, aircraft performance calculations and navigation routings. By doing this, students learn the necessary habits of preparation in a structured manner.

Flight time consists of circuit training, navigation exercises, emergency procedures and light operations all while utilising Malta’s 24×7 runway and favourable local weather. Experienced instructor pilots closely supervise each flight while teaching students not only technical aspects of flying but also decision making skills, workload management and situational awareness.

The time between each flight is used to conduct ground school classes, simulator training and debrief sessions where performance reviews, error identification and operational improvement opportunities are discussed.

The small geographical area of Malta also allows for efficient flight training scheduling, and Malta’s access to airspace in Italy provides for border crossing navigation training and provides added perspective related to international operations in one day of flight training

At TNC Aviation we believe that professional habits must be established at an early stage. The structured daily rhythm of Malta’s training environment mirrors that of an airline operation with a goal of preparing students not only for flying but operating.
